In the days\nleading up to the grand gala of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards (held\nlast night), Josper was present at the events and celebrations the only way we\nknow how\u2014 in front of the oven and the Basque grill braising meat, fish and\nvegetables for hundreds of diners and guests of the event, and also sharing\nunique moments in a region that has given so much to the culinary world. The\nBasque Country, its cuisine and its heirs\u2014 Berasategui, Arzak, Subijana,\nEtxebarri, Azurmendi, and Mugaritz are now the best sign that there is still a\nlong way to go, while always respecting the pioneers, their techniques and\nprinciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Josper\nfamily congratulates all the cooks who are on this list and also those who are\nnot, and who every day give the best of themselves in their trade. Thanks to\nall of them the dreams of many people are fulfilled, and as Massimo Bottura\nsays, \u201cChefs and all the people of gastronomy are able to build a better\nworld\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josper was\npresent at the 2018 World’s 50 Best Restaurants<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the\nEuskalduna Palace in Bilbao had the highest concentration of culinary talent\nper square metre in the world. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants are the Oscars\nof cuisine with more than one hundred of the world’s most sought-after chefs,\nand some 350 journalists. And the celebration didn\u2019t disappoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highly\ncompetitive list in which every year there are ups and downs; where any small\nchange can bring you up or down a spot. Thus, New York’s Eleven Madison Park\nfell to fourth place to allow the current number one, Osteria Francescana by\nchef Massimo Bottura (Modena, 1962), which held the top spot in 2016, to go up\na spot. The Roca brothers with El Celler de Can Roca also went up a spot, and\namong the 50 best establishments there are seven Spanish restaurants (the\nlargest presence of a single country), with three of them being among the top\n10: Asador Etxebarri (10) and Mugaritz (9), in addition to Celler de Can Roca\n(2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
