Chef Raymond Blanc in Barcelona

The prestigious chef Raymond Blanc visited Josper's Showroom.

Yesterday was a very special day at JOSPER. Our export manager, Marcelo Castiglioni, confirmed Raymond Blanc’s visit and his exclusive participation in the JOSPER Grilling Experience. Not only has it been an honour for the JOSPER team to enjoy his experience and savoir-faire, but also to have the opportunity to share a day with him in Barcelona and to be able to see first hand how his senses react to our gastronomic charcoal.

For those unfamiliar with the name, Raymond Blanc is one of the world’s leading chefs. Of French origin, Monsieur Blanc is greatly recognised in the United Kingdom, where he runs the idyllic restaurant at the Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons hotel, a gourmet stronghold in the English countryside with two Michelin stars, and Raymond Blanc’s Cookery School, one of Britain’s most prestigious schools.

First thing in the morning, the day already promised to be unique. After a stroll through the historic centre of Barcelona, Ciutat Vella and the Gothic Quarter, Marcelo and Monsieur Blanc walked up the Rambla to the gastronomic-social heart of Barcelona, the Mercat de la Boqueria, as he himself immortalised on Twitter.

“A pleasure for the senses!” he told us a few hours later. The first strawberries of the season delighted his palate, as well as the highly-appreciated fresh fish and seafood displayed at market stalls, which would soon be cooked for him in a JOSPER oven. After some wine and tapas in El Quim de la Boqueria, the Chef asked himself on Twitter if it would be possible to find such quality products in London someday. His British followers responded and proposed some recognised London markets as an alternative to Barcelona. The twitter-savvy Blanc posted provocative and exciting tweets as he strolled around the largest larder of fresh products that many would like to have in their own kitchen.
